Mayor Xaba Reaffirms Commitment to Elevating Amashova to International Status

DURBAN – eThekwini Municipality Mayor, Councillor Cyril Xaba, officiated at the prize-giving ceremony of the 40th Amashova National Classic Bicycle Race at Suncoast Casino, marking the successful conclusion of one of South Africa's premier cycling events.

The 40th edition of the iconic race attracted thousands of cyclists and spectators from across the country, reinforcing Durban's reputation as a leading sports tourism destination. The event also delivered a significant economic boost to the city, benefiting the hospitality, accommodation, transport, and retail sectors through increased visitor spending.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Xaba congratulated the winners and acknowledged the efforts of the organisers, sponsors, volunteers, and participants whose collective commitment ensured the continued success of the event.

He reaffirmed the Municipality's commitment to strengthening its partnership with the organisers to expand the Amashova National Classic into a globally recognised cycling event.
