MLAZI, DURBAN — Dr Futhi Mkhize, a doctor from Section A in uMlazi, is turning her commitment to community development into action by empowering local women with practical skills to produce skin and hair-care products at no cost.
The initiative forms part of Dr Mkhize’s commitment to giving back to the community by equipping women with skills that could help them create income-generating opportunities and potentially establish their own businesses.
Dr Mkhize said her support would not end with the training. She plans to remain in contact with the women she trained, providing guidance and helping them improve the quality and standard of their products.
She also intends to assist them in working towards getting their products onto retail shelves, creating opportunities for their businesses to grow and reach a wider market.
The initiative highlights the importance of skills development and community-based empowerment, particularly in creating sustainable economic opportunities for women.
