uMngeni Municipality Mayor, Chris Pappas, paid a visit to DETIAMO Design and Retail in Curry’s Post, where he was warmly welcomed by the business owners and staff.
DETIAMO is a proudly local enterprise renowned for its beautifully crafted linen clothing for women, stylish footwear, and a range of unique lifestyle products. During the visit, Mayor Pappas toured both the retail store and the on-site manufacturing facilities, gaining first-hand insight into the company’s operations and its contribution to local economic development.
A key highlight of the visit was the opportunity to meet the local women employed at the factory, where elegant linen garments are designed and produced. The business currently employs 14 people from the local community and has expanded its reach by supplying products to 15 retail outlets across South Africa.
Beyond its fashion offerings, DETIAMO has also become a popular destination for visitors seeking freshly baked cakes and quality cappuccinos, adding to the unique customer experience that has helped establish the brand's reputation.
The company’s products are available directly from its Curry’s Post store, through its online platform, and in boutique hotels across the country.
Speaking during the visit, Mayor Pappas praised the business for its role in creating employment opportunities and stimulating local economic growth.
“It is encouraging to see businesses such as DETIAMO thriving in uMngeni. Enterprises like these create jobs, empower local communities, and serve as important drivers of economic development in our municipality,” said Mayor Pappas.
